Yes we CAN!
We need you!
We have started a fundraising campaign in order to continue with our aim, so we need you:
89%
of the raised money is dedicated exclusively to action on the ground/shores.
Ocean currents make these islands involuntary destinations for objects from different origins. The inconsistent management of this problem worldwide, the lack of awareness, and an ineffective waste management in the fishing industry have turned this situation into a global issue. It is estimated that between 21% and 54% of microplastic particles in the world are found in the Mediterranean. Julià Panadès’ Ofrendas 2.0 project (Mallorca, 1981) is presented in various physical and documented forms, relating the history and path of each plastic piece, revealing the unpolitical connections of the Mediterranean Sea. Plastics tell us a different story, that of a sea affected by microplastics, with fewer fish and more waste. The Ofrendas represent a new relationship between the body and a planet that is changing before our very eyes.
At Ocean Keepers we don't want to end Julià's work, but we rather finish his raw materials.
That’s why we need to continue conducting thorough cleanups thanks to donations and the collaboration of volunteers.
